We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the LEGACY landing page, a new digital home for the exploration of foundational texts and intellectual traditions, powered by the latest tools in semantic analysis and graph-based navigation.
LEGACY is one of three flagship platforms developed by the Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS) at UM6P. While the FUTURE OF SCIENCE network rethinks academic publishing through tools like open review, and THESIS CENTER supports students with streamlined dissertation tools, LEGACY turns toward the past—to the canon, to the classics—but with an eye on the future.
📜 What is LEGACY?
LEGACY is a platform dedicated to exploring the world’s most influential texts—philosophy, science, theology, literature—through interactive technologies. It enables users to upload, link, and map relationships between canonical works, visualizing the intellectual connections that define our shared scholarly inheritance.
Some key features include:
- A growing library of digitized classics, migrated from the original EEP platform.
- User-uploadable texts and metadata.
- The Knowledge Tree, mapping mentorship and intellectual lineage across centuries.
- The Great Conversation, a graph-based tool for exploring connections between texts via explicit and implicit references.
All of this is made possible thanks to a strong network of international partners, including the Archives Wittgenstein, the University of Chicago’s Knowledge Lab, and scholars from University of London, University of Lille, and beyond
💡 Why now?
With LEGACY, we aim to transform how scholars, students, and the broader public interact with foundational texts. Think of it not as a library, but a living web of ideas, continually enriched by users and AI alike.
